How to Schedule a Consultation and Fees

How to Schedule and Fees

Appointments. This law practice is limited to consulting with mental health professionals, practices, agencies and institutes. Telephone and videoconference (Zoom) appointments are exclusively made online on the Calendar page of this website. The link to the Calendar page is at the top right of this page. Appointments are scheduled every 45 minutes, however, you will only be billed for time used. If you schedule a telephone appointments, then you must call Bruce at 516 877-2016 at the appointed time (he will not call you). Multiple parties may be included in a consultation upon request.  If you wish to consult for more than 45 minutes, then please email a request to do so; an advance retainer is required in such instances.

Fee Schedule. Fees are $600 per hour, prorated in quarter hours, rounded up. Each quarter hour is billed at $150, as follows: 5-15 minutes - $150, 16-30 minutes - $300, 31-45 minutes - $450, etc.

If following your consultation further legal work is required, then time spent on your matter will be billed using the same fee schedule, i.e., $600/hour, prorated in quarter hours, rounded up. If work will necessitate fees of over $1000, then you will be asked to sign a retainer agreement.

Method of Payment. Fees are payable by credit or debit card only, at the conclusion of the consultation.  No other methods of payment are accepted. At that time you will be asked to provide your card information. Your information will be maintained securely for future reference.  At any time, you may request that we no longer retain your credit card information.

Email Consultations. If you are a prior client and wish to consult by email, then that might be possible if your issues and questions are amenable to response by email if you have a current credit or debit card on file. If you are unsure if that’s the case, then you may email and Bruce will let you know if he is able to respond by email (if not, a telephone or videoconference consultation could be scheduled). Email consultations are billed in the same manner as telephone and videoconference consultations, that is, by the amount of time it takes to respond using the above fee schedule.

In-Person Consultations. In-person consultations are available as requested and necessary. Please email to inquire if you would like to schedule one.

Statement of Services. Following payment you will receive by email a paid and itemized statement for services rendered.

Emergencies. All consultations are booked online through the Calendar page of this website (link at the top right of this page), so if you have an urgent matter but there is no time available on the Calendar that meets your needs, then Bruce may be unable to assist you. In such circumstances, please feel free to consult with Lissa Schaupp JD LCSW or Mary Lynn McDermott JD LCSW at the law firm of Schaupp McDermott LLP by calling (646) 233-1680.
